A pilot is one of the highest-paid professions. Along with a rewarding salary, the career offers numerous advantages:
Pilot License Programs at VATA
At VAYURATH Aviation Training Academy (VATA), aspiring pilots can pursue DGCA-approved pilot license programs designed to support different levels of flying expertise and long-term aviation careers. VATA provides structured guidance and training pathways for the Student Pilot License (SPL), Private Pilot License (PPL), Commercial Pilot License (CPL), and Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
To be eligible for pilot training at VATA, candidates must have successfully completed 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics, and English from a recognized board, securing a minimum of 50% marks, as prescribed by DGCA (India).
Student Pilot License (SPL)
The Student Pilot License is the first step toward becoming a professional pilot. At VATA, candidates must be at least 16 years of age, have completed 10th standard, possess a valid DGCA Class 2 Medical Certificate, and successfully clear the oral examinations in ground subjects conducted by a DGCA-approved Flying Training Organisation.
Private Pilot License (PPL)
The Private Pilot License enables students to fly aircraft for non-commercial and recreational purposes. To qualify, candidates must be 17 years or older, hold a valid Class 2 Medical Certificate, clear the required DGCA examinations, and complete a minimum of 40–60 flying hours, as per DGCA norms.
Commercial Pilot License (CPL)
The Commercial Pilot License allows pilots to fly professionally with airlines or charter operators. VATA prepares candidates who are 18 years and above to obtain a CPL by ensuring compliance with DGCA Class 1 medical standards, successful completion of all DGCA theoretical examinations, and a minimum of 200 total flying hours.
Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL)
The Airline Transport Pilot License is the highest level of pilot certification and is required to command commercial aircraft. Candidates must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid Class 1 Medical Certificate, clear the DGCA ATPL examinations, and accumulate a minimum of 1,500 flight hours, including 500 hours in multi-crew operations.
Through its DGCA-compliant training programs, experienced instructors, and strong safety culture, VATA ensures students are fully prepared for successful and responsible careers in aviation.
You have to pass Class 12th with Physics and Maths as optional subjects. If you do not have any or both of them, you may take the class 12th exam with these subjects from NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) to be eligible for the program.
